Willie Emmett Obituary, Death Cause – On August 31, 2023, Willie Glen Emmett of the Yankee Springs Community in Winn Parish passed on to be with his Lord and Savior. In Winn Parish’s Ward 10 on Friday, March 13, 1936, he was born. After graduating from Calvin High School, Mr. Willie Glen started a 40-year career in the logging business. He was a devout follower of Yankee Springs Baptist Church, where he led songs and oversaw the Sunday School. Mr. Willie Glen enjoyed gardening, his family, maintaining the lawn, and worshipping God. His sister Doris Emmet Martin and her husband Charles Martin, as well as his parents Bashie Blake Emmet and William E. Emmet, predeceased him.

His wife of 67 years, Barbara Webb Emmett, his daughter Sharon Emmett Reed and son-in-law, David Reed, grandson Justin Brett Reed and his wife, Danielle Creamean Reed, and great grandchildren Reese Avery Reed and Knox Emmett Reed are the loved ones left to cherish his memory. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Ora Jean Emmett Lucky (late husband: Billy Gene Lucky), his in-laws Sue Wall and Otis Wall, Betty Jo Weeks and Evyonne Weeks, and several nieces and nephews. The Southern Funeral Home will be open for visitation on Friday, September 1, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and again on Saturday, September 2, from 12:00 pm until the start of services at Yankee Springs Baptist Church at 1:00 pm.

Following is burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be done by brothers Mike Carpenter and Dustin Johnson. Ricky Blake, Kenneth Weeks, Logan Adams, Steven Weeks, Justin Reed, Otis Wall, D. J. Leach, and Otis Lamar Wall have been chosen to carry the casket. Cody Cummings and Evyonne Weeks will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s or a charity of your choosing in place of flowers.
