Stephen Dunn Obituary, Death – Today, we remember and pay tribute to a true Hibernian legend, Stephen Paton, whose recent passing has left a void that will be felt deeply throughout our club and the footballing community. Our thoughts are with his beloved wife Joan, and his children Lauren and Callum during this difficult time.

Stephen’s connection with Hibernian was a remarkable one, marked by a passion and dedication that made him stand out among our dedicated supporters. He first joined our Board as a Non-Executive Director in July 2022, marking his third distinct period of service to the club—an achievement that few could claim. His tenure spanned from June 1998 to May 2006, before he returned in June 2015 and remained a Board member until May 2021.

Stephen’s love for Hibs was undeniable, and he embraced his role with unwavering enthusiasm. His commitment extended far beyond the boardroom, as he rarely missed a game and often could be found in hospitality, hosting friends and family with his characteristic gusto. To many, he was more than a director; he was a friend and mentor who left an indelible mark.

One of Stephen’s enduring legacies is his pivotal role in establishing the Hibernian Historical Trust, reflecting his deep passion for our club’s history and his commitment to its preservation. He also contributed significantly to Hibernian Supporters Limited and championed the club’s creative efforts in photography and videography.

Outside the football world, Stephen was a successful businessman, serving on several boards and holding prominent roles, including his tenure on the Board of Edinburgh College, his role as Human Resources and Communications Director with the Miller Group, and his position as Corporate Services Director at ScottishPower.

Stephen was a man of diverse interests, from his love of reading and theater to his expertise in fine wine and his legendary enjoyment of a good steak. He was a captivating dinner companion, his knowledge and warmth enriching any gathering.

Stephen Paton was a man who lived life to the fullest, charting his unique course with remarkable success. He leaves behind a legacy of passion, dedication, and boundless curiosity that will be greatly missed.
