Sorel Mazyck Obituary, Death – Tragedy struck on the evening of September 13th when a Summerville woman lost her life after being struck by a vehicle while walking along North Maple Street. The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Sorel D. Mazyck, as confirmed by the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office.

The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m., and regrettably, Ms. Mazyck was pronounced deceased at the scene approximately an hour later, at 1 a.m. on September 14th. Following the incident, the Summerville Police Department (SPD) launched an investigation.

They have charged Roderick Ferebee with hit and run and duties of a driver involved in an accident resulting in death. According to the SPD, officers promptly responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Disturbingly, it was reported that the suspect vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered the victim, later identified as Ms. Mazyck, off the roadway in a steep and grassy ditch. Tragically, her injuries were severe, with apparent bone deformities and no signs of life. The scene revealed personal items such as a pair of tennis shoes, artificial hair, jewelry, and a purse scattered in the vicinity.

This heartbreaking incident has left the community in mourning as they come to terms with the loss of Ms. Sorel D. Mazyck, whose life was tragically cut short in a hit-and-run accident. The SPD is working diligently to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
