Richard Kocik Missing – A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Richard “Rick” Kocik, a beloved person who had a profound impact on many people’s lives. Please come out to the Royal Canadian Legion Br 31 at 1050 Weston Road in York, Ontario, on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Friends, family, and acquaintances who had the honor of getting to know Rick can come together at this event to remember him.
Rick was adored by everyone who had the pleasure of coming into contact with him. His influence was felt far and wide, from his warm grins to his enduring anecdotes that made people smile. We cordially ask you to join us in honoring the lovely memories Rick gave us if you ever had the pleasure of spending time with him, whether it was at work, school, or during other adventures in life.
We share the news of Rick’s demise with sorrowful hearts because his journey was not without its difficulties. Rick’s bones were found near Wasaga Beach on May 25, 2023, three long years after his abduction on July 6, 2020. It has been stressful not knowing where he is right now, but we can now take comfort in the knowledge that he is at rest, back with his parents, and surrounded by the love of our Lord.
Your efforts were much appreciated and meant a lot to Rick’s family if you helped out with the hunt for Rick or shared his posters. Now, when we assemble to commemorate Rick’s life, let us keep in mind the times that made us laugh, the occasions that solidified our relationships, and the long-lasting influence he had on each of us.
May we find solace in telling tales, remembering good moments, and making space for our group pain as we participate in this celebration of life. Though he is no longer with us, Rick’s soul lives on in the precious memories we cherish, and even though he is gone, his influence may still be felt in the hearts of those he touched. Let’s join together to remember Rick and the special impact he had on our lives during this time of mourning.
