Michael Duenas Obituary, Death – Michael G. Duenas, aged 77, peacefully departed this world on September 14, 2023, at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. Born on March 30, 1946, to Yzmal and Vera (Shurlow) Duenas, Michael’s life was marked by various passions and a deep connection to his loved ones. In his youth, Michael displayed his prowess as a golden glove boxer at the St. Louis Boys Club, showcasing his dedication and determination.
As he grew older, his interests diversified, and he found joy in both golf and softball, participating enthusiastically in numerous leagues. Michael dedicated his professional life to Vestaburg Silos and later joined the team at Larry Lippert. Beyond his athletic and career pursuits, Michael cherished the serene moments spent at Crooked Lake with his devoted companion, Lavern.
His heart was always with his family, and he leaves behind a legacy of love. He is survived by his two daughters, Candy (Omero) Vasquez of Mt. Pleasant and Carrie Myers of Alma, along with nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his son Craig Duenas, siblings Mary, Anna Marie, and Raymond, and his loyal canine companion, Star. In honoring his wishes, Michael’s remains have been cremated. A celebration of his life is planned for November 18, 2023, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Alma VFW Hall, where family and friends will gather to share their fondest memories. Arrangements have been thoughtfully entrusted to the caring professionals at Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd, ensuring a respectful and loving farewell to a remarkable man.
