Margaret Glynn Obituary, Death- With heavy hearts, we come together to remember and honor Margaret Glynn, a beloved member of the Alpine Garden Society. Margaret’s passing on Monday leaves a void in our hearts and in the society that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Margaret’s dedication to the Alpine Garden Society, particularly in the Ulster region, was nothing short of remarkable. For many years, she diligently served as Treasurer, contributing significantly to the society’s growth and success. Her organizational skills were unmatched, and she was the driving force behind many of our most cherished and unforgettable trips.
In addition to her invaluable contributions to the society, Margaret, along with her late husband Louis, created a garden that stood as a testament to their passion for horticulture. Brocklamont House in Ballymena was transformed into a haven of natural beauty, drawing in not only AGS members but also local and distant garden enthusiasts who marveled at its splendor.
Margaret’s love for gardening extended to the world of snowdrops, earning her the distinction of being a devoted galanthophile. In her garden, she discovered a unique Galanthus seedling, which she lovingly named ‘Brocklamont Seedling.’ This discovery was a testament to her keen eye and deep appreciation for the natural world. Margaret Glynn’s memory will forever be intertwined with the Alpine Garden Society and the gardens she nurtured. Her legacy of dedication, organization, and passion for horticulture will continue to inspire us all.
As we come to terms with her loss, we extend our condolences to Margaret’s family and friends. We find solace in knowing that her love for gardens and the beauty of nature will forever be remembered and celebrated by those whose lives she touched. Margaret, you will be dearly missed, but your legacy will bloom eternal in the gardens and hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing you. Rest in peace, dear friend.
