Judy Kriner Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Judy A. “Nanny” Kriner, a beloved member of our community, on Friday, September 15, 2023, at the age of 84. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Judy was born on August 1, 1939, in Hagerstown, MD, to parents Paul and Elaine Creager. She graduated from Waynesboro Senior High School in 1957 and went on to touch the lives of many through her dedicated career as a receptionist in several doctors’ offices in the Chambersburg area, spanning over 27 years. Her warm and welcoming presence left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered, and her retirement in 1996 marked the end of an era.
Judy found joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished family gatherings and embraced life’s simple pleasures, whether it was playing games, crocheting, or attending kids’ events.
A devoted member of Grace Baptist Church in Waynesboro and a lifelong member of the Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Judy was deeply connected to her community.
She is survived by her three children, Kim Shank, Jeff Kriner, and Missy Smetzer, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Judy was the last of her immediate family, preceded in death by her husband, Terry L. Kriner, and her sister, Nancy Monn.
A memorial service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Baptist Church in Waynesboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private at the family’s convenience.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church or The Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Department.
The arrangements are being handled by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Online condolences may be expressed at www.bowersoxfuneralhomes.com.
