James Hershman Obituary, Death – Late Monday evening, tragedy struck in Rochester Hills as Lee James Hershman, a 57-year-old resident of Oxford, succumbed to injuries sustained in a devastating three-vehicle crash. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reported the heartbreaking incident, which occurred on M-59 between John R Road and Dequindre Road.

The fateful collision unfolded at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Monday when Hershman, behind the wheel of a Ford sedan, was traveling eastbound on M-59. It was at this moment that his vehicle was tragically struck by a GMC pickup truck. The circumstances leading to this tragic incident paint a distressing picture.

According to investigators, the GMC pickup truck, traveling westbound on M-59, lost control, veering uncontrollably. It crossed the median through an “Authorized Vehicles Only” crossing and collided with Hershman’s car and another vehicle, a Buick SUV being driven by a 58-year-old woman from Pontiac. Fortunately, the third vehicle’s occupant emerged unscathed, but the same, tragically, cannot be said for Hershman.

Despite wearing a seat belt, Hershman sustained grave injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to these injuries, leaving a void in the lives of those who knew him.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 25-year-old resident of Brandon Township, remains in critical condition, fighting for recovery.

It is a solemn moment for the community as they grapple with the loss of Lee James Hershman and hope for the recovery of the pickup truck driver.
