Glen Straker Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts that we, the children of Glen Straker—Jason, Jill, and myself—share the news of our father’s peaceful passing last Sunday, September 10, at the Regina General Hospital. The three of us had the privilege of being by his side when he took his last breath during the early afternoon.
Today, we gather in his hometown of Punnichy, SK, at the community hall to bid farewell to our beloved dad. If you have a moment, please send a warm thought during the service. This past week has been filled with emotions that ebb and flow, just as they should, and it has been a busy time as we’ve worked on the details for a fitting celebration of his life.
Dad was not only a loving father but also a music enthusiast. He knew I was working on a new record, and he longed to hear some of the songs. I had the privilege of playing him the mixes of these tunes from my laptop in his bed. His reactions were priceless—smiles, nods, thumbs-up, and heartfelt expressions that resonated with the lyrics. It was a beautiful yet heart-wrenching experience. Today, I will sing one of those songs in his honor.
The photo captured a special moment this February when my partner, Michael, and I drove to dad’s farm for his birthday. Michael prepared a magnificent birthday lunch, complete with an angel food cake topped with strawberries. Dad was overjoyed to have his own catered meal for a lunchtime party.
Glen Straker will be deeply missed by many. Rest in peace, dear dad. Your memory will forever shine bright in our hearts.
